Sensory Integration (SI) Therapy
"Sensory Processing Disorder or SPD (originally called Sensory Integration Dysfunction) is a neurological disorder in which the sensory information that the individual perceives results in abnormal responses.”
Sensory integration therapy aims to help kids with sensory processing issues (sensory integration disorder) by exposing them to sensory stimulation in a structured and organised way that will allow the brain to process and react to sensations more efficiently. Sensory inputs are required for healthy brain function. Sensory inputs influence the organisation of behaviour, learning and emotion.
Sensory processing disorder (SPD) is a condition where multi-sensory inputs are not processed accurately for the optimal response as per the needs of the environment. it affects the performance of the individual in everyday activities, play skills and in social participation. symptoms may vary as per the severity which sensory systems and which combinations are involved.
